Cellist & Pianist
Stephanie Jaimes & Kevin Maddox
Strings Attached is a multi-genre cello and piano (and sometimes drummer) ensemble that creates fresh arrangements and compositions that encompasses jazz, classical, folk, RnB, & hip-hop. Kevin's Jazz background, blended with Stephanie's Classical background, and their combined love for good music is the breeding ground for the hip arrangements and compositions of Strings Attached.

The duo, originally from Miami, moved to Brooklyn, NY in October 2017 to work one on one with the virtuosic chamber ensemble Project Trio. Strings Attached was accepted into Project Trio's post-graduate classical/contemporary chamber music program, where they worked hands on in songwriting, recording, and performance. During their New York residency, Strings Attached wrote and performed as a trio with beatboxing flautist Andrew Bustamante and performed at Cafe Vivaldi(R.I.P.) and Rockwood Music Hall.

Stephanie and Kevin are currently residing in South Florida and have been collaborating with South Florida percussionist Emily Maddox, Kevin’s sister and drummer of Jazz legend Ira Sullivan. Having a drummer in Strings Attached has provided us more freedom and opportunity to explore rhythmic textures and add more variety in our arrangements.
The trio performs regularly at Wynwood hotspot Lagniappe, where you can come hear how we intertwine rock, jazz, classical, and folk elements.
This year we’ve been fortunate to have been invited to perform at the WDNA Jazz Gallery live on the radio for the Florida International University(FIU) Music Hour (Stephanie’s Alma mater), and as an opening act at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for a Benefit show featuring SNL all-stars Dennis Miller, Jon Lovitz, Rob Schneider, and Darrel Hammond.
In the summer of 2019, Strings Attached, the duo, was accepted into Mike Block’s F.B.I. (Florida Band Incubator) Program, a one week intensive focused on performances and one-on-one coachings with highly successful faculty from Berklee College of Music and Snarky Puppy’s violinist Zack Brock.
Notable Performances include WDNA Jazz Gallery live radio hour, SoFar Sounds Miami, Clazz Music Festival in Italy, Rockwood Music Hall with Project Trio, and at the Lincoln Center Education in NYC.
When they are not performing, Kevin & Stephanie are actively pursing and providing music education in their community.
The duo has a residency at the Eastside Active Living Facility for a gracious audience of residents, where we perform a mix of classical and jazz music while sharing a brief history of the pieces and composers.
Stephanie Jaimes is a Teaching Artist and Conductor for the El Sistema program Miami Music Project in Miami, and previously worked at Youth Orchestra of St Luke's in NYC.
